social studies term 3 week 1

By the end of the topic, I will be able to explain:
1. Why people move between places
people migrate because of many reasons some of these reasons are war jobs politics
2. How migration affects:

    1. Those who migrate; it affects the people who migrate because they leave there old lives and go start a new one
    2. The places they migrate to; it affects the places they migrate to because the country or state gets overwhelmed with all the people asking for benefits and applying for jobs
    3. How people interact; people start to act differently because it has become harder to find jobs and housing and there surrounding's and people and language are all different

migration is when people change the place there living for lots of different reasons if that is for jobs or other reasons

when people move from Australia to new Zealand to PNG to Fiji to new Zealand

  • Migration: To move from one place and settle in another.
  • Emigration: Leaving your home to move elsewhere
  • Immigration: Arriving in a new place to live
  • Push Factors are factors that encourage emigration from a place.
  • Pull Factors are factors that encourage immigration to a place.
  • Counter-stream: things that make people want to return home after they have migrated
  • Chain migration: where a small number of people make the first moves to set up a new home in a new place. They send information back home, and this encourages further migration.

Why do people immigrate?
  • people immigrate because they want to find better jobs or 

Why do people emigrate?
  • people emigrate because of many reasons they don't like the way there country is moving politically environmentally

What are the consequences of migration?
  • some of the consequences of migration are it makes it harder to find jobs for the people looking for jobs and there are more people trying to get benefits from the government  

What factors might cause a counter stream of migration?
  • if the price of housing gets to high and jobs are hard to find people might start moving to find jobs and cheaper housings

What obstacles might they encounter?
  • some of the obstacles people migrating face are it is hard to find jobs and housing at the start and some people want to stop people migrating because it ruins the economy for the people already living there

What are examples of migration in history?
  • some of the examples of migration is when the dutch went to Africa
