superior- refers to a part of the body being higher then another e.g. your cranium is superior then your vertebrae

inferior- refers to a part of your body being lower then the other e.g. your patella is inferior to your pelvis

types of joints

  1.  pivot- neck      
  2. hinge- elbow 
  3. saddle- rist 
  4. plane- your foot 
  5. condyloid- rist 
  6. ball and socket- shoulder
